Best Time to Visit Wular Lake

Wular is a vast, shallow lake in the Bandipora district, fed by the Jhelum river. It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in South Asia, and its size changes noticeably with the seasons.
It is a working lake, important for fishing and water chestnut harvesting, and is recognised as a wetland of international importance.
The best views are from the parks and viewpoints on the hillside near Bandipora, where the full sweep of water and the mountains behind it can be seen.
The lake is also the first big landmark on the road to Gurez Valley, which climbs above it towards the Razdan Pass.
