Introduction

About Thajiwas Glacier

The valley is reached on foot or by pony from the Sonamarg meadow, and holds snow well into the summer.

The trail leaves the main Sonamarg meadow and follows a stream up through birch and fir towards the glacier. How far you can go, and how much snow you find, depends on the month.

Early in the season the snow reaches low into the valley and sledging is offered by local operators. By late summer the snow has retreated and the valley is green.
