Best Time to Visit Tangmarg
Any time of year. December to February is best for snow and the frozen waterfall.

Tangmarg is the small town where the plains end and the forest road to Gulmarg begins. Every visitor to Gulmarg passes through it.
It is worth more than a drive-through. The surrounding forest, the Ferozpur stream and the nearby Drung waterfall make it a good stop, especially in winter.
From Tangmarg the road climbs through dense pine forest to Gulmarg. After heavy snow, vehicles without chains stop here and travellers switch to local 4x4 cabs.
A short drive away is Drung, where a waterfall drops beside the road and often freezes into a wall of ice in midwinter. Between Tangmarg and Gulmarg lies the shrine of Baba Reshi.

A working market town with shops, eateries and a taxi stand. In deep snow, expect a vehicle change for the climb to Gulmarg.
