Best Time to Visit Dachigam
April to October for forest walks. October and November for the best chance of seeing hangul.

Dachigam is a national park in the hills just outside Srinagar. It protects the forested catchment that supplies water to the city and is the last stronghold of the hangul, or Kashmir stag.
A visit is a quiet walk in protected forest, very different from the busy sights of the city.
The park is divided into Lower Dachigam, which is accessible for most of the year, and Upper Dachigam, a high-altitude area reached only on foot in summer.
Besides the hangul, the park is home to Himalayan black bear, leopard, langur and a long list of birds. Sightings are never guaranteed. Entry requires permission from the wildlife authorities, which we can help arrange.
