Best Time to Visit Bangus Valley
June to September. Snow closes the approach roads for much of the year.

Bangus is a wide, bowl-shaped grassland high in the mountains of the Kupwara district, with streams winding across the valley floor and conifer forest on the slopes around it.
It has only recently opened up to visitors and remains one of the least developed places in Kashmir.
The valley is used in summer by shepherds, whose flocks and temporary shelters are scattered across the grass. There are no hotels on the meadow itself.
Bangus lies near the Line of Control. Checkposts, identity checks and changing access rules are part of visiting, and the road is rough in places.

Bangus is reached by rough mountain roads from the Handwara or Kupwara side, in a sturdy vehicle. It is a long journey from Srinagar and usually needs a night nearby.
No shops, little shelter and no mobile coverage on the meadow. Weather changes quickly.
